The Small-Desk Setup Guide: More Screen, Less Clutter

workspace category

Small desks fail the same way: the monitor stand eats a third of the surface, the laptop sits flat and hot, and cables colonise whatever is left. You do not need a bigger desk. You need to reclaim the one you have, in this order.

1. Get the monitor off its stand

A monitor’s factory stand occupies the most valuable land on the desk. A clamp-mounted arm like the Pro Monitor Arm moves that footprint to the desk edge and lets you push the screen back further than any stand allows. On a 60 cm deep desk, that is the difference between elbows on the desk and elbows in your lap.

2. Raise the laptop, or park it

If the laptop is your second screen, a folding stand lifts it level with the monitor and lets air under it. If it is docked and closed, stand it vertically or park a phone or tablet on a device stand instead; angled screens take half the depth of flat ones.

3. Give every cable a home

Cables on the desk read as clutter even when nothing else is. Magnetic clips along the back edge hold charging cables where you can reach them, and everything that does not need to be reachable goes under the desk. Ten minutes, transformative.

4. Keep the leftovers in one place

Spare cables, the second charger, the USB drives: they need one home, not four corners. A tech organiser pouch in a drawer does it, and it goes straight into the bag when you work elsewhere.

Doing the whole list at once? The Desk Setup Bundle covers steps two and three in one order, which also clears the $100 free-shipping mark.
